21 Nov Children’s Justice Center
We visited the Children’s Justice Center on April 29, 2014. The Children’s Justice Center in Provo, Utah serves children in Utah County who have been severely abused. It is the first place children are taken when abuse is discovered. It is a home-like environment so that children who are processing hard things have a soft place to start healing. Sadly, the Center investigates 1200 cases of severe abuse every year. Every child who goes to the Children’s Justice Center can choose a teddy bear or stuffed animal and a blanket to keep. While most of the blankets that are donated are for babies and small children, there was a need for larger blankets for pre-teens and teens.
We were able to provide enough twin-sized blankets for the Children’s Justice Center to take care of the pre-teens and teens for one month. Hopefully, the warmth of our hearts will warm the children who visit the Center. The director, Judy gave us a quick tour of the facility. For privacy purposes we were not able to meet any of the children there, but the facility is beautiful.
